Helsinki Design School

When: 2024 - 2025
Work: Graphic Design
I completed the Graphic Design program at Helsinki Design School, where the focus was on the fundamentals of visual communication and creative thinking. The studies covered key aspects of both print and digital design processes.
Throughout the program, I worked on several hands-on projects that simulated real client work. These included designing brand identities, posters, editorial layouts, packaging concepts, illustration and visual content for social media. My portfolio features examples of these assignments, showcasing my ability to apply design principles to real-world scenarios.
1. Packaging design for a cosmetic brand called OR+
The name OR+ was given as well as the information that it was a organic cosmetic brand. The brand values, packaging materials as well as the visual identity was all left for us to decide.
The idea behind the packaging design:

The Or+ natural cosmetics brand is a combination of luxury and naturalness. “Or” is French and means gold, thus expressing the luxury of the product. The main ingredient in the products is antibacterial, anti-inflammatory Manuka honey, nature’s own healing and soothing miracle substance.
The Or+ moisturizer is like a touch of moisturizing natural gold in a small jar. The goal of Or+ natural cosmetics is to emphasize a little everyday luxury, without compromising on naturalness and responsibility. Or+ products represent modern luxury, where luxury can also be something youthful and playful, and where responsibility is a given in both the choice of materials and the raw materials.

2. Logo and menu design for a restaurant
The name and style of the restaurant as well as the content of the menu were freely designed.
The idea behind the design:

The restaurant called Fork&Fable is a modern, somewhat rebellious restaurant somewhere in Kallio, that combines playfulness and carefreeness with uncompromising food quality and a fine dining experience.

Fork&Fable questions the traditional fine-dining formula, which appears to be rather serious, neat and luxurious. As a dining experience, Fork&Fable is like if a young fine-dine chef, interested in punk and Japanese culture, invited you into his living room to have dinner with his friends. However, the food is top noch, there is no compromises on the quality of the food. On the other hand, the menu is also a strong showcase of the chef's creativity, and a certain amount of anarchism is part of the deal.

The rebelliousness and playfulness are especially evident in the visuals. This will most likely resonate with young city dwellers, which is why the restaurant's look aims to be social media friendly. The aesthetics is a clash of different styles and individual random elements, creating an interesting ensemble. For example, the logo is a mix of old folk tales and a modern textured surface. Storytelling plays a large part in the menu design, which is also where the restaurant's name Fork&-Fable comes from. The font of the logo imitates the style of old fairy tales. The colors are particularly emphasized by the bright tomato red shade, which communicates youth and vivacity.

3. Logo design for a health app
The name of the company was given
The idea behind the design:

WellHel.ai is a company that offers health and wellness services using artificial intelligence. Values like reliability and stability are important, however, since technology is an obvious part of the company's operations, a modern, fresh look is important.
The logo is simple and easy to read. It conveys freshness, reliability and empathy. The logo has a symbol that is also a character for the social media app. The symbol can be seen as a cross, a flower, and it has a heart in it, which represent the health, empathy, blooming and the community.

4.Illustration for a chocolate bar
Artist collaboration that embodies personal style. The name of the chocolate brand was given.
The idea behind the design:

I chose two subjects that identifies my style easily. People and nature are endless sources of inspiration, and many times somehow involved in my designs.
I love small details and richness in illustrations. Storytelling is also really interesting, I love thinking about the backstories and, for example, finding something surprising in an image. I also love colors, especially their brightness and abundance. I hardly ever get tired of pastel shades and perhaps a certain kind of joy through colors represent my work. On the other hand, I am easily inspired by surprising color combinations that bring dynamics to the image. I also admire controlled, purposeful designs and certain kind of harmony. If the illustration is visually rich, I try to balance the set with colors, or vice versa.
